Aberdeen's approved scheme is scheduled for 1 April 2027, at 7% throughout a stay. Current VisitScotland guidance identifies 1 October 2026 as the advance-booking date for relevant future stays. Confirm current council instructions before applying the transition.

Before affected bookings

Check total prices across channels, agree collection responsibilities and prepare staff to explain the charge. Confirm registration, reporting, exemption and retention arrangements with Aberdeen rather than copying Edinburgh settings.

Request a source export

Keep stay dates, booking and payment evidence, accommodation amounts, currency and collected levy. Ensure amendments and refunds link back to the original reservation. Check whether a net payout has already deducted fees.

The record template helps identify needed fields. Its sample figures are Edinburgh examples, not Aberdeen rules.

Assign a reviewer

Identify who checks each property's source totals and approves the figures. List unresolved gaps and request corrections before the first reporting period. Test the whole workflow, including retained evidence and the handover to whoever files.

This guide is for preparation. It does not enable Aberdeen calculations or claim that its filing workflow has been implemented. Request a pilot to review export readiness.
