Glasgow has an approved scheme. VisitScotland's current business guidance describes 5% from 25 January 2027, throughout a stay, with 1.5% provider retention. These future scheme details do not mean this product currently supports live Glasgow returns.

Check the transition before charging

Published advice has changed during implementation. The current VisitScotland business page refers to advance bookings from April 2026; older material uses another cutoff. Check Glasgow's current scheme and your booking terms before deciding individual cases. This editorial guide has not activated an operational Glasgow rate.

Prepare every channel

List direct bookings, travel agents and your property-management system. For each, record who calculates and collects the charge, where it appears in exports and how changes are recorded. Review guest communications and the total price shown when booking.

Keep accommodation, VAT, levy and platform deductions separate. Request a test export and identify missing dates or payment evidence now.

Rehearse a review

Use the record template as a field checklist. Its fictional figures concern Edinburgh and must not be used for Glasgow liability. Decide who reviews exceptions and who submits the return, and keep current council guidance available to staff.

Request a pilot to test data preparation. Participation does not imply that Glasgow calculation or filing support has been enabled.
